Chocolate Chip Muffin

Young and innocent yet melancholic

The 5 track CD album “Five colours of melancholy” released by Chocolate Chip Muffin, Fredrik Lyhagen and Johan Windahl, in 1998 is the result of a quite a few years of fiddling with the guitar and rock stardom dreams.

And boy was it a commercial success..!! After reassuring family and friends that we do have a happy and optimistic outlook on life despite the lyrics the successes started rolling in, one after another. Sales sky rocketed in the first month, all family members bought 2 copies each, Fredrik’s grandmother bought 5 copies and distant relative of Johan bought a half a case to keep birds away from the strawberry fields. The rest of that case was sent to select music labels and radio stations in Sweden.

Approximately 2 months after the release we received a refusal letter from one of Sweden’s most influential artists, Ben Marlene of Trance Dance and the CEO of Jimmy Fun Music. But as we have an optimistic outlook we thought: “Hey, the Beatles were refused! Let’s just send our album to a few more music labels! In 2008, after our 4756th letter, the world run out of music labels.

Still today, Ben Marlene’s autograph is the closest we’ve come to rock stardom.

Enjoy!
